About Dr. Harris

After graduating from Plant High School, Dr. Harris earned his bachelor’s degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida, followed by his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from Nova Southeastern University’s Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-KPCOM).

Following medical school, he commissioned to active duty as a Medical Officer in the United States Navy. He completed his internship in Family Medicine at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton before serving as a Naval Flight Surgeon, with operational tours at Naval Branch Health Clinic Bahrain and Naval Air Station Coronado.

After completing his military service, Dr. Harris returned to graduate medical training, completing a residency in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (ONMM) at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York, followed by a Sports Medicine fellowship at NSU-KPCOM. He is Board Certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM/OMM).

Dr. Harris later joined the faculty at NSU-KPCOM’s Tampa Bay Regional Campus, where he taught Osteopathic Principles and Practice while caring for patients at Evara Health. He subsequently joined Evolutionary Healthcare, providing Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) to patients in skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities. He continues to teach as an adjunct faculty member at NSU-KPCOM.

In 2026, Dr. Harris fulfilled a long-held goal of starting his own medical practice. He provides personalized osteopathic sports medicine care focused on careful listening, comprehensive evaluation, and skilled hands-on treatment.

His approach reflects the core principles of osteopathic medicine, emphasizing whole-person care, the relationship between structure and function, and the body’s natural ability to heal.

Dr. Harris has cared for patients across all stages of life, including young adults, patients recovering from injuries, and senior citizens who are looking to stay active. He works closely with each patient to relieve pain, restore function, and support lasting recovery.

When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Harris enjoys time with his wife, Brooke, their son, Aiden, and their loyal companion, Maple.

Sports Medicine Treatment

Sports medicine focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries related to physical activity and movement. Despite the name, sports medicine is not limited to competitive athletes. Anyone who wants to move well and stay active can benefit from this approach.

Sports medicine care emphasizes restoring function so patients can safely return to the activities that matter to them, whether that means running, training, working, playing with their children, or simply moving without pain.

Dr. Harris combines specialized training in sports medicine with osteopathic hands-on care to evaluate how the entire body is functioning. This allows treatment to focus not only on the injured area, but also on the movement patterns and mechanical factors that may have contributed to the problem.

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)

Osteopathic medicine is a branch of medical practice that emphasizes the connection between the body’s structure and how it functions. Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) are fully licensed physicians that receive the same medical training as MDs, with additional education in the musculoskeletal system and hands-on diagnosis and treatment (OMT).

This approach views the body as an integrated system rather than a collection of isolated symptoms. When joints, muscles, or connective tissues are not moving or functioning well, other parts of the body often compensate and become dysfunctional. Over time, this can contribute to pain, injury, limited mobility, and disease.

Osteopathic medicine focuses on understanding these patterns and identifying the underlying cause of a patient’s symptoms. The goal is not only to relieve pain, but also to restore healthy function and support the body’s natural ability to heal.

At Harris Osteopathic Sports Medicine, this means taking time to understand your full story, performing detailed osteopathic and musculoskeletal evaluations, and developing a treatment plan that addresses the root cause of the problem.
